Discharged from the US Army (79^th Army Band) on January 5, 1968, I returned to San Juan, Puerto Rico to resume my civilian life. Immediately applied for the benefits of the GI Bill and attended the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory. Later on worked as Musical Director for the Educational Programming Division of WIPR-TV, Channel 6, the PBS Affiliate in San Juan. While working at WIPR and of my own volition, I became interested in television production and related fields. With this experience under my belt, I worked as Audio and Television Director for the Turabo University in Gurabo, Puerto Rico.

In 1976 I became an independent producer establishing my own production company, producing educational material for the Puerto Rico school system as well as producing educational shows for WIPR-TV as an independent producer.

During all this time and mainly to ensure that I did not forget my music, I played with several of Puerto Rico’s dance band as well as having my own combo for several years.

In June 1981, trying to expand my horizons I moved with my family to Houston, TX. However for diverse reasons I was not able to enter the television and/or production fields in this city.

Since life must go on, I applied for work with the Texas Health & Human Services Commission formerly known as the Texas Department of Human Services. Through the career ladder and from the position of Eligibility Worker, I became a Supervisor in the Texas Department of Human Services assigned to train new personnel in the various programs offered by the agency.

In 1994, I was transferred to the Civil Rights Division of the agency investigating complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment filed by employees and/or clients as well as inspection of the agency’s buildings to certify compliance with the American Disability Act (ADA).

In 2006, I was promoted to Manager of the Houston/Beaumont Regions of the Civil Rights Office.

In August, 2008 I retired from the agency after 21 years of service.

I currently do not do anything, but just enjoy life and my piano playing as well as working with different MIDI programs for my own amusement. Once in a while I may play a solo gig for a private party and/or organization if they call me...
